Undergraduate Nuri Hong selected as a 2024 Optica Women Scholar

Congratulations to undergraduate student Nuri Hong, selected a 2024 Optica Women Scholar

Hong, an undergraduate researcher in the Meinig School's Schaffer-Nishimura Lab, was selected in recognition of her excellence in optics and photonics research. Hong's research focuses on developing new optical methods to visualize the degeneration of myelin — the insulation that wraps around the axons of neurons — in the brain. The award includes a $10k scholarship,  a one-year Optica student membership and access to Optica's global network of mentors and the supporting companies.
