BME in Top 10 in NRC Survey

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University was ranked #10 in Research Activity and #9 in Diversity of Academic Enivronment in the 2010 National Research Council (NRC) rating of doctoral programs in science and engineering.

The NRC rankings, comissioned by the National Academies of Science and Engineering and the Institute of Medicine, take place every 10 years, and are based on quantitative metrics of achievements of department faculty and students.

The Research Activity ranking is determined by numbers of research publications per faculty with externally funded research, and number of research grants per faculty member.

The Diversity ranking is based on percentage of faculty and students from underrepresented groups, female faculty and students, and international students.

Cornell BME's high rankings highlight its commitment to research excellence and to creating a productive and creative working environment for faculty, staff, and students.
