Marjolein van der Meulen selected a 2024 ORS Fellow

Marjolein van der Meulen has been selected as a 2024 Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) Fellow.  Van Der Meulen is the James M. and Marsha McCormick Director of Biomedical Engineering and Swanson Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering and Sibley School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University, and a Senior Scientist in the Research Division of the Hospital for Special Surgery. 

ORS Fellows are longstanding members of the ORS who have demonstrated exemplary service and leadership, substantial achievement, expert knowledge, and significant contributions to the ORS, its governance, and the field of musculoskeletal research. 

Van Der Meulen has been an active participant in the ORS for more than 35 years, during which she has served as secretary, co-director on the Basic Science Review Course, chair of the program and annual meeting committees, and most recently as president (2022-23) for the Society. In 2015 she received the Women’s Leadership Award for her contributions to supporting women in orthopaedic research. Her research group focuses on both musculoskeletal mechanobiology and bone biomechanics. 

ORS fellows will be honored during a closing ceremony to be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
