Students attend winter career treks to Boston and San Francisco

By: Kerry Elizabeth Spitze

Over winter break, the Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering (BME), partnered with the Engineering Career Center, Engineering Alumni Affairs & Development, and M.Eng. Career Support to coordinate staff and student treks to both Boston and San Francisco for those interested in the biomedical engineering industry. Each trek consisted of multiple onsite employer visits wherein students were given tours as well as learned more the companies and opportunities through interactive panel discussions, presentations, and demonstrations. Additionally, there was an alumni networking event held in Boston where students could connect with alumni of all ages.

Student Comments:

  • The networking reception was fantastic and very helpful. Please keep doing that.
  • The amount of time spent at each company and the amount of interaction with alumni was great. I appreciated the ability to network in the evening after a day of industry tours. The entire experience was planned very well, and I feel I got a lot of exposure for the relatively short time commitment.

BME will also be hosting their 4th Annual BME Industry Engagement Day later this spring, bringing together both industry partners and students for a day of engagement, learning, and networking.
