Marjolein van der Meulen begins term as President of the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS)

Dr. Marjolein van der Meulen begins her one-year term as President of the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) at the close of the annual meeting in Tampa, FL, on February 8, 2022. 

Prior to this honor, in her more than 20 years as an ORS member, Dr. van der Meulen has served in numerous and varied roles at the organization, including Secretary of the Board of Directors and the Program and Annual Meeting Chairs.

A longtime advocate for early-career and marginalized professionals in the academy, Dr. van der Meulen has also been active organizing, leading, and participating in a variety of mentorship and professional development programming. She was a member of the ORS Task Force on Diversity & Inclusion and leads the Career Development Workshop for the MSK Biology Workshop. She was a formative participant in the Women's Leadership Forum and in 2015 received the ORS Women’s Leadership Award.

As ORS president, Dr. van der Meulen’s vision for the coming year includes further strengthening the organization’s impact on the musculoskeletal community, especially through mentoring, professional development and leadership training. In addition, rebuilding the ORS community and onboarding the new executive director will be priorities.
