David McKellar (Cosgrove & De Vlaminck Labs) awarded a 2021-22 Cornell NIH T32 Immune-Engineering Predoctoral Fellowship.

Dominick Romano (Adie Lab) awarded a trainee stipend to present at the ISMRM Workshop on Perfusion MRI: From Head to Toe in Los Angeles, CA; accepted manuscript on summer immersion term work at Weill Cornell Medicine titled “Deployed Deep Learning Kidney Segmentation for Polycystic Kidney Disease MRI" to be published in Radiology: Artificial Intelligence.

Nancy Ruiz-Uribe (Schaffer-Nishimura Lab) received Ephrahim Garcia Graduate Excellence in Mentoring Award from Cornell's Diversity Programs in Engineering (DPE).

Brittany Schutrum (Fischbach Lab) received third place in the Society of Women Engineers WE21 poster competition.

Stephanie Curley (Putnam Lab) accepted a position as the Mary H. ’80 and Richard K. Templeton ‘80 Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Union College (Schenectady, NY), starting September 1st. 

Anthony D’Amato (Yadong Wang Lab) awarded an SOE seed grant to scale up solution electrowriting.

Rebecca Irwin (Delco Lab) awarded a 2022 Stryker/ORS Society Women’s Research Fellowship. 

Sophia Ziemian (van der Meulen Lab) received a postdoc achievement award for excellence in mentoring from Cornell Graduate School.

Andrea Ippolito (B.S. ’06, M.Eng. '07) closed $6 million in seed round funding for her company SimpliFed, a virtual platform focused on democratizing access to baby feeding services. 

Stephanie Lindsey (Ph.D. ’16, Butcher Lab) awarded 2021 Single Ventricle Research Fund (SVRF) award from Additional Ventures.

Monet Roberts (Ph.D. ’19, Paszek Lab) joining Virginia Tech Biomedical Engineering & Mechanics as an assistant professor in 2023.

Elizabeth Wayne (Ph.D. ‘16, King Lab) awarded a $1.7 million NIH R35 grant, otherwise known as the Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA), for macrophage polarization research. 

MEET THE 2022 NSF FELLOWS

The Meinig School proudly congratulates the eight students who each won a 2022 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship (GRFP). The fellowship offers three years stipend support for 5 years to applicants selected through a national competition. Robert Hawkins, Maple Chen (undergraduate), Samantha Kraus, Coulter Ralston, Ambika Pachaury, Kylie Persson & Jeremiah James.
