McAdam Professor of Heart Assist Technology
Schools of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering
The Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering and the Sibley School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University invite applications for the Lowell and Susan McAdam Professor of Heart Assist Technology. We seek exceptional candidates who will dramatically enhance cardiovascular research efforts, develop synergies with current areas of biomedical engineering strength, and embrace the vision of a quantitative, multi-scale approach to applying engineering solutions to problems in human cardiovascular health and disease. The appointment is expected to be with tenure at the rank of Full or Associate Professor.
Candidates are expected to currently have an internationally recognized program of cardiovascular research and teaching. Exceptional candidates who add to or complement current research strengths in either or both schools will be given priority consideration. Biomedical engineering research acts as an intellectual bridge between engineering and physical sciences and the biological and medical sciences. We value interdisciplinary projects and actively promote interactions with Weill Cornell Medicine, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and basic engineering and biological sciences. Cornell hosts numerous centers, including the Cornell Stem Cell Consortium, Center for Vertebrate Genomics, Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology, Nanobiotechnology Center, Cornell Nanofabrication Facility, and Cornell Center for Materials Research.
The Meinig School, the Sibley School and the College of Engineering at Cornell embrace diversity and seek candidates who will create a climate that attracts students, staff and faculty of all races, nationalities and genders. We strongly encourage women and underrepresented minorities to apply.
