Bonassar Lab Alumnus receives NIRA award
Congratulations to Edward Bonnevie, Ph.D. (a Bonassar Lab alumnus), on receiving a New Investigator Recognition Award (NIRA) for his work demonstrating the effects of inhibited cartilage lubrication on chondrocyte apoptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction. He received the award at the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) annual meeting last week in San Diego. New Investigator Recognition Awards are presented each year to outstanding researchers in their first five years of active research work.
While at Cornell, Edward studied the molecular and structural influences on the lubrication of native and engineered cartilaginous tissues as a member of the Bonassar Lab. Focusing on boundary mode lubrication, he analyzed the efficacy of adsorbed lubricin on tissue surfaces and any influence that may have on the transition to mixed mode lubrication.
