Aparna Ashok awarded Best Poster at GE Student Research Summit
Aparna Ashok ’12 BE, M.Eng.’13 BME, was awarded Best Poster for her Master of Engineering project poster at the 2nd annual Student Research Summit at the General Electric (GE) Global Research site in Niskayuna, NY on Friday, August 9th, 2013. The Student Research Summit was a one-day event, where GE hosted graduate students in science and engineering to provide them with the opportunity to network with other academic talent and accomplished professionals in an industrial research setting. This event featured talks from several GE technology experts as well as laboratory tours and networking opportunities. About 40 students from various universities including Columbia, Brown, Syracuse, and Cooper Union were invited to present and the topics addressed ranged from experimental physics and sustainable design to alternative energy and biomedical engineering.
Aparna completed her M.Eng. project titled "Environmentally Powered Blood Pressure Monitor,” under the supervision of Jack M. Thompson, Jr., P.E. and lecturer in the department of Biomedical Engineering.
