Dr. Shivaun Archer receives 2012 CEAA Academic Achievement Award
Dr. Shivaun Archer has received the 2012 Cornell Engineering Alumni Association (CEAA) Academic Achievement Award. This award recognizes non-tenure track faculty members who go well beyond their job duties for advising, teaching and general help to students and who enhance undergraduate education outside of the classroom.. Dr. Shivaun Archer was chosen for her outstanding support for undergraduates both in and outside of the classroom.
She has served as an unofficial mentor for the 2010 and 2011 iGEM teams as well as for the winners of the 2011 MSE OH competition. She makes the Instructional Lab available to many student projects and provides guidance. She has also been a frequent judge of the student run research symposium BioExpo. In addition, Dr. Archer is committed to promoting diversity in the College of Engineering by her participation in number of outreach events aimed at increasing the number of underrepresented minorities and women in the College of Engineering. In addition to her tireless work in the classroom she has assumed a mentorship role for students interested in a biomedical engineering career and gives her time generously to advise students in career and academic matters and is noted for her helpfulness and patience, as borne out by student’s testimony.
