Professor Larry Bonassar named Associate Chair of Biomedical Engineering
Don Bartel has served very effectively as BMEP Associate Director and BME Associate Chair over the last three years. The primary role of the Associate Chair is fostering linkage between the Ithaca and Weill campus. In particular, the Ithaca-based aspects of the immersion term (BME 716) is the responsibility of the Associate Chair. Don was the PI on the Whitaker grant that allowed us to do the two pilot runs of the immersion term and was a primary factor in this years successful launch of the broader immersion term. Don is on sabbatical currently and has asked to be relieved of the Associate Chair duties. We all owe Don a great deal of gratitude for the excellent job he has done in establishing this Associate Chair position.
Larry Bonassar has agreed to become our Associate Chair. Larry's experience with cross-campus research makes him the ideal person for this position. He will focus on working with Yi Wang (at Weill) on the immersion term and other cross campus issues as they arise.
