Dr. David Lipson joins the department of Biomedical Engineering

I am pleased to report that Dr. David Lipson has accepted a position with us as Senior Lecturer beginning November 1, 2004.

David has a BS from Cornell in electrical engineering and MS and PhD from Case Western Reserve University in biomedical engineering. He has broad experience in biomedical engineering including Abbott Laboratories, Eli Lilly (including a role as manager of advanced development leading to an early stage subsidiary (Heart Rhythm Technologies, Inc.)), Medtronic (as director of R&D, minimally invasive cardiac surgery), MediSpectra, Inc. (VP, Product Development) and TissueLink Medical, Inc. (VP of Research).

David will assume primary responsibility for the M.Eng. Program, including development of design projects with industry and with the medical college. This year he will work with Don Bartel on BMEP 550, Product Engineering and Design in Biomedical Engineering (Spring 2005) and will become the lead instructor in Spring 2006. Also, he will teach BMEP 402, Information Exchange in Biomedical Engineering Systems in Spring 2005.
