Dr. Antje Baeumner carries out a Nucleic Acid Sequence-Based Amplification Reaction for the Detection of Cryptosporidium parvum. This molecular biological amplification reaction is used prior to the application of a biosensor with which minute amounts of RNA can be detected. Her lab develops biosensors and bioanalytical microsystems in which all sample preparation steps and the detection are miniaturized and available on a microchip for rapid and highly sensitive detection of the pathogens in clinical, environmental and food samples.
