The Meinig School faculty and graduate field members of Biomedical Engineering specialize in six primary research areas: biomechanics and mechanobiology, biomedical imaging and instrumentation, drug delivery and nanomedicine, molecular and cellular engineering, systems and synthetic biology, and tissue engineering and biomaterials. Integral to the school's research effort are graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, technicians, and visiting faculty.
Our Ph.D. program admits approximately 20 students per year, and we award nearly 85 M.Eng. degrees annually. A critical component of every student's degree program is active participation in the research activity of the school and its research goals could not, in fact, be achieved without this participation. Undergraduate students from diverse majors participate in the biomedical engineering minor (about 60 students per year) or take biomedical engineering courses and many of these students also make important contributions to the school's research goals.
