To apply for merit-based financial support from Cornell, applicants should submit all application materials no later than January 10. The application for merit-based support is part of the application for admission. Merit-based support includes Cornell fellowships, which are awarded for the first year of study and include full tuition and a nine-month stipend.
We have a special Department of Education grant (GAANN or Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need) for 2007 - 2010. We expect to provide three new students with a GAANN fellowship during each year of the grant. These fellowships will provide a slightly enhanced stipend but require additional teaching responsibilities. Please see below for more information on this GAANN fellowship.
Teaching and Research Assistantships may be available through the Graduate Field of Biomedical Engineering.
All students are urged to apply for fellowships from national, international, industrial, foundation, and government sources. The Graduate Field of Biomedical Engineering can help students identify and apply to the appropriate agencies, including the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, the American Association of University Women, and the National Institutes of Health.
