Graduate Studies Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you accept applications for the spring semester? If so, what is the deadline?

A: We rarely accept students for the spring term to our MS/PhD program, so applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for fall admission. We do accept applications for the Masters of Engineering (M.Eng.) program on a rolling basis.

Q: How do I apply and what are the deadlines?

A: Applications to the Master of Engineering program are accepted on a rolling basis. However, international students should submit an application by November 15 for the spring session and by June 30 for the fall session so that there is time to process the paperwork and issue visa documents, if necessary. Applications to the MS/PhD programs are due by January 15 for the fall session.

Q: Is the GRE subject test required?

A: We do not use subject test results in our admissions. We do NOT require the GRE subject test in engineering or any other subject test. We DO require the GRE general test, and we do use those results in admissions.

Q: Can I send a copy of my GRE & TOEFL scores?

A: Yes, we can accept a copy of the score reports for the initial review of the file. The reports can be faxed, mailed, or scanned and emailed to biomedgrad@cornell.edu. If you are accepted into the program, you will have plenty of time to provide official scores to us.
