Graduate Programs

The Meinig School offers students a world-class education in a world-class research environment through two graduate degree programs: a master of engineering (M.Eng.) and a doctorate of philosophy (Ph.D.).

BME graduate students master a set of core concepts and principles critical to a fundamental understanding of biomedical engineering, but also have tremendous flexibility in designing a sequence of coursework and research. With guidance and approval, programs are tailored to meet particular needs and interests across six strategic research areas.

Our faculty routinely conduct interdisciplinary research with members of other departments. For our graduate students, this provides exposure to a broad spectrum of concepts and the experience of an unusually collaborative culture.

Joseph Long, Ph.D.

I chose Cornell not only for the phenomenal research opportunities, but also because the BME community felt real and genuine. Cornell BME allows me to have flexibility in my coursework and gives me skills to guide my own path during my research career, and I value that tremendously.
